Overview:
This package contains a library and a command line program
to convert from PNG/JPEG/NetPBM to EPS. Different
compression and encoding mechanisms are available
when producing the EPS output file.
Suggestions how to modify dvips to use the library are
included too.

Update contents:
- Modification suggestions for dvips 5.92 were added.
- Guido Gonzato contributed a .spec file for RPM creation.
  It is in the unsupported/rpm-spec directory as bmeps.spec.
  The directory is named unsupported because my Linux is
  a Debian one, so I do not know anything about building
  RPMs. The file is for those how know...
No changes were applied to the source code for the
libbmeps library or the bmeps program itself.

Thanks for the upload.  I installed it as suggested replacing the old version
in CTAN:support/bmeps/
