On Wed, 18 May 2005 Dirk Krause submitted an update to his

The png2pdf program converts PNG images to PDF.
An alpha channel in the PNG file can be used to mix against
a specified background color and/or to create a PDF image mask
or PDF alpha channel. The program may be of interest for
pdfLaTeX users creating posters, flyers having
colored background.

This release contains a documentation update only,
the program code was not changed.
There was a question in comp.text.tex how to use png2pdf
with the beamer document class.
I added an example to the PDF manual.
