thanks for the update; i've updated the package distribution at
cambridge and pushed the changes out to other ctan sites.

i've also installed your tds .zip file at
  install/macros/latex/contrib/fmtcount.tds.zip

Users can have a look at the package at
  http://mirror.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/fmtcount
(mirrors may take up to two days to get this new version)
