Summary description: Alternative uses of the TX fonts, with improved
metrics.

 With version 1.4, the text fonts have been reworked so as not to have
 any dependence on the txfonts package, but draw upon the richer
 TeXGyre Termes fonts. With newtxtext, you have access to all figure
 style in TGTermes, plus expanded superior figures and letters in all
 style. The fonts have been reworked to add a new, larger, small caps,
 available as an option to newtxtext.
